Working With You And Your Horse
Chris’s work is based on traveling out to meet with people and their horses at their home or stable and working with groups at clinics. His work is a unique blend of horsemanship combined with an understanding of the self-growth and personal insight that naturally accompanies connecting with horses.
His focus is to help the person and the horse to understand each other and for them to feel good in what they do together. When meeting with a person and their horse, Chris likes to first sit down with the person and listen about what they are currently thinking and feeling in their life. Understanding where we are in the present moment, as well as having a feel for what our intentions are with our horse, creates a feel and a vision for the way ahead. We become aligned in an energetic way where our thinking and feeling plants the seeds for all that will happen. If we can understand ourselves and get a feel for where we are and want to go, this energy and vision will lead the way.
Then we look at the horse and get a feel for where they are at. The horse’s actions and movements are just the result of how they think and feel, so if we can understand what they are thinking and feeling we can become very understanding of them. It is also important to have a knowledge of how a horse naturally lives and moves and how to help them to be healthy, happy, and strong. If the horse understands our guidance and feels good about it, and their body is healthy and balanced, they are given every opportunity for success.
In the methods he uses Chris focuses on the individual and their horse and honors where they are at, where they want to go, and how they are drawn to get there. The beginning foundation involves a deep sense of understanding between human and horse based on body language, energetic communication, and the seeing of each other in all ways. From there we follow where the connection takes us, with options including a varied array of groundwork and games, plus balance, mindfulness, and energy exercises for both human and horse, as well as a natural way of riding that speaks to all people and horses. Working with a horse is an art with everyone developing their own way that feels natural to them, with the unifying truth that both horses and humans respond to attention, patience, softness, and understanding. If we can develop a feel for this in our relationships with horses, as well as a feel for the energy and biomechanics of the human body and the horse’s body, we have the beginning of a wonderful foundation. This then leads to a mutual safety, confidence, and trust between us and our horses.
The spiritual and soulful journey involved within a relationship with a horse is also something Chris focuses on. In this he works with meditation, grounding, and energy exercises, as well as creating a safe atmosphere for deep and open-hearted conversation. Whether working with horses or just in the presence of horses there is much opportunity for inner-growth and for our mind, body, and soul to become more aligned. And with that, our becoming more deeply connected to ourselves, our horses, and all of life.
The person and their horse lead the way with Chris helping and guiding where need be. His main focus is for the session to be safe, fun, and a positive experience for all, where the journey becomes the end in itself.

Private Sessions At Chris’s Barn
Chris also offers private sessions in Pownal, Maine where people of all ages can visit with him and his horses.
Open to people with or without horse experience, these sessions are a way for us to open up to ourselves based on our interaction with horses. From working directly with the horses to sitting in a field and talking while surrounded by horses, these sessions are about feeling where we are at in life. The session kind of paints itself as to what is discussed and where it leads in regards to the work and interaction with the horses. Horses have a way of bringing out our loves and fears, and their presence also has a way of helping us to understand how we can find balance and a path ahead.
The design of these sessions is for us to better understand animals, nature, the world, and ultimately ourselves while in a safe and inspiring setting. Horses are very giving souls and when we open up to them we become very aware of our thinking, our energy, and our choices, and we find that happiness is truly possible no matter where we are at.
